It's always amazed me. The history.
The sheer amount of energy, devotion, economics. Focus.

The Oudekerke in Amsterdam was built over four hunderd years,
mostly by generations of the same families, as were the other great
cathedrals of Europe, and the world. The expressions of belief and
devotion this represents is one of the true testimonies of faith that
the modern Church has. We need to see it, feel it, understand what
the art, architecture, music, history represents.

This needs to uphold us, and remind us, in these days of modern
materialism, that would distract us and have us believe that truth can
be bought and sold, righteousness is a warm gun, and the suffering of
the impoverished masses wasn't what Jesus was really addressing in
the Sermon on the Mount.

Some churches are full, some are not. The real question lies in what are
we doing to help those in need. Those in pain. Those in grief. If you read
who Jesus was, what he taught, what he asked of us, it's simple. It's clear.

It's only complex and hard to understand when we try to talk our way out of it,
to give it shades of meaning. To make it subtle. Where ever you are, whatever
you have, help some one.

What ever our situation, there's someone somewhere in our life, that needs
a smile, a helping hand, a kind word. "As much as you do it unto the least
of these, you do it unto me"  An old tale, tried and true. Some would say trite.
The modern world says dull. Not profitable. Doesn't reach the bottom line,
no profit margin, nothing for the share holders.

It's the teaching of Jesus. "Give and it shall be given unto you".

We all will be presented an opportunity to be a positive influence in the world today.
We need to be Ready. We need to take it.

It's that simple.
